SMS Messaging Program
Last updated June 2, 2026
This page explains Codel’s text-message (SMS) program: what it is, exactly how you opt in, the consent you give, and the messages we send. It is the reference for our A2P 10DLC campaign registration.
The program at a glance
- Program name: Codel.
- What it does: Codel sends you a text message when a new charge is detected on a credit card you have connected to your account. Each message identifies the transaction (amount, merchant, date, and a short reference code) and asks what the purchase was for. Your reply is saved as that transaction’s note for expense categorization.
- Message type: transactional account notifications only. No marketing, no third-party content, and no messaging to anyone who has not opted in.
- Frequency: event-driven — roughly one message per new card transaction. Message and data rates may apply at your carrier’s standard rates.
- Who we message: the account holder only, at the mobile number they entered and verified.
How you opt in
Codel uses double opt-in. You are enrolled only after you (a) enter your own mobile number, (b) actively check an unchecked consent box, and (c) confirm ownership of the number by entering a one-time code we text you. No consent is ever pre-checked, and no purchased or third-party lists are used. Providing a number is optional — you can skip it and use Codel without SMS.
Step 1 — Create an account
You enter your email and receive a 6-digit sign-in code — no password.

Step 2 — Add your name

Step 3 — Enter your mobile number and give explicit SMS consent
This is the opt-in screen. You type your own mobile number and must check the consent boxbefore the “Send verification code” button becomes active. The box is unchecked by default, and this step is optional — you can choose “Skip for now” and use Codel without texts.

Exact consent language you agree to
☑️ I agree to receive expense-coding text messages from Codel at this number. Reply STOP to opt out or HELPfor help. Message & data rates may apply.
Step 4 — Confirm your number
Codel texts a 6-digit code to the number you entered. You enter that code to finish — proving you control the phone before any further texts are sent.
